 $4.99 - Astraware - Westward® - v1

  • Graphics and Sound - 5/5
  • Strategy - 3/5
  • Fun - 5/5
  • Re-playability - 3/5
  • Overall - 4/5

Westward is a casual family friendly cross between an RTS and a city building sim. Set in the wild west, the game features resources to collect and buildings to build, backed with fun story elements, good graphics and funny dialogue. This is not a typical action/war RTS, there is no enemy camp to destroy and not much fighting. The action is very simple, as you have a few gunslingers and sheriffs to defend your town from the odd bandit. The main focus is on providing for your villagers and building a thriving town. It's definitely a fun game if you like city building, but if you're looking for RTS action, this is not it.

PROS CONS
  • Great Graphics and Sound
  • Good comedy
  • Good UI
  • Save when you want to, instead of typical iPhone autosave
  • Fun building options, good storyline
  • Elements of both a city building sim and a real time strategy game
  • Tutorial takes a long time to complete
  • Gunfights and action are very simple, not much point to them. This is not an action game.
  • Could use a pinch interface to zoom around the map
