A new world domination game has recently be released onto the iPhone gaming scene: Wargame, a world domination style strategy game offering more complexity and superior strategy elements. Although the graphics are fairly simple, the game has a great strategy experience and just the right amount of strategic options that don't make the game too complicated and not too simple. You not only control how many troops you send, but also how many fighter jets, tactical missiles, ships used to transport troops across water, special forces, and whether to bribe a country to lower it's defenses. Because you only make a limited amount of money per turn, you have to decide what to spend it on, buying armies or upgrading your territories.
The downside is currently the interface, although it is well designed for the most part, the experience gets a bit complicated when you are fighting on several fronts and have a large number of territories under your control. It's hard to keep track of what orders you have queued up for your countries and where your units are located. There is a master queue list, but it would be a lot more useful if you could tell just by clicking on a country. The full world domination mission also takes a VERY long time to play out, on the order of several hours. But there are shorter continent domination and defeat one nation style missions if you're looking for a quick battle.
Multiplayer is currently limited to Bluetooth and local connections, but works well. Wargame has a lot of promise and after a few more updates or a version 2 release, it is sure to become a very mature iPhone strategy game. I would recommend getting it now though, it's still a great game and will only get better.
