$4.99 - USM   - v1.1

  • Graphics and Sound - 3/5
  • Strategy - 5/5
  • Fun - 3/5
  • Re-playability - 4/5
  • Overall - 4/5

The ever popular board game "Settlers of Catan" has made it to the iPhone. Overall it's a pretty good experience, although not as much fun as playing the actual board game. There's just something about doing everything by hand with physical pieces that makes the game so much fun in the real world. That said, the iPhone version is a lot of fun too and a great way to learn the rules of the full game.. or learn some strategies, go over to your friend's place, tell them you've never played, and exile them from the island in shame.

I think it's a bit expensive when compared to some of the more in depth strategy offerings out there for the iPhone. My only other complaints are that you can't skip the dice rolling and the AI players can get a bit annoying in their trading offers. If the price was $1.99, then go for it.

PROS CONS
  • Great port of the board game
  • Local hotseat multiplayer
  • Easy to learn
  • Good interface
  • Challenging AI
  • Simple graphics and sound
  • Can't skip dice roll
  • AI tries to trade too often
  • No online multiplayer

Hey, thanks for reviewing this! I was semi-curious about the game when I first saw it but am now thinking of picking up the actual board game. I'm sure I'm not the only person who appreciates it, just the first to comment! Also, keep up the great work on the website!
